Dwarf French Marigold flower seeds grow into compact, bushy plants filled with fiery double blooms in shades of orange, gold and deep red. Growing to 15-20 cm high, they’re perfect for borders, containers and edging, or brightening up garden beds with their big, bold colour. These half-hardy annuals are known for their reliability and long flowering season, blooming from early summer through to autumn.
French Marigolds’ velvety petals and warm, sunset hues have real visual impact. Beyond their looks, they have a light, earthy fragrance that doesn’t overpower, but blends in with other scents. They are easy to grow, thriving in full sun with well-drained soil. Regular watering helps maintain their vivid colour throughout the summer. When cutting for vases, harvest in the morning, trim stems at an angle, and remove lower foliage to keep them fresh for longer.
Pair Dwarf French Marigold seeds with Dahlia plants for even more fiery tones, Geranium plantsand Verbena plants for added texture and structure, or Pansy plants for a delicate look.

In a standard 30cm (12in) container, 3-4 French Dwarf Marigolds fit comfortably. If you’re using a larger container, you can plant more, but don’t pack them in; they need room to grow, or they compete with each other for nutrients and water. Pick a container that has proper drainage to support healthy growth.
French Dwarf Marigolds are annuals, meaning they complete their life cycle in one growing season. They will grow, bloom, and die off by the end of the season, so you'll need to replant them each year.
Yes: both are part of the marigold family, but French Marigolds (Tagetes patula) have smaller, more compact flowers and a stronger scent compared to the larger, more upright African Marigolds (Tagetes erecta). French Marigolds also tend to be more colourful.
