FAQs

Cut back Crocosmia 'Lucifer' in late autumn or early spring. After flowering, the foliage begins to fade, but it can be left in place over winter for structure and to provide habitat for wildlife. Once the leaves turn brown and collapse, they can be removed to tidy up the plant. In early spring, any remaining dead growth should be cut back to ground level before new shoots emerge. This helps to keep the clump healthy and encourages strong growth for the coming season. Avoid cutting back too early in autumn, as the foliage continues to feed the corms for next year’s display.

Plant Crocosmia 'Lucifer' in spring or early summer, once the risk of frost has passed. Dig a hole slightly larger than the pot, place the plant at the same depth as it was in the container, and firm the soil around it. Water well after planting to help it establish.

Crocosmia 'Lucifer' flowers from mid to late summer, typically blooming between July and September in the UK. Warmer weather and well-drained soil encourage earlier flowering, while cooler conditions may delay it slightly. Regular deadheading can help extend the flowering period by preventing seed production and encouraging new buds.
