Wild Carrots are umbels, meaning each flower head is made up of tiny white blooms arranged in flat-topped clusters, often tinged with pink when they first open. As they mature, the flower heads curve inward, forming a distinctive, nest-like shape that gives them the nickname “Queen Anne’s Lace.” This changing form adds interest throughout the season, from the first flush of flowers to the seed heads that follow.
