FAQs

Yes: Ammi visnaga will freely self-seed if its flowerheads are left to mature and dry out. This natural process is how it reproduces in the wild. To encourage it to self-seed, simply leave its flowerheads in place as they die back; or, to prevent it from self-seeding (and to keep your garden tidy), deadhead it instead.

Sow Ammi visnaga seeds in early spring or autumn. For spring sowing, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost or sow directly outdoors once the soil has warmed. Autumn-sown seeds germinate and establish for earlier flowers the following year.

Ammi visnaga can be planted after the risk of frost has passed in spring. Harden off seedlings for 7-10 days by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions before transplanting into well-drained soil in a sunny position.
