Grow Alyssum Carpet of Snow plants to create soft mounds of pretty, white flowers with a lovely honey fragrance. Perfect for patio pots or direct in borders, this Alyssum variety flowers profusely, with masses of tiny white blooms, which are a magnet for pollinators.
Alyssum Carpet of Snow is a compact, low-growing variety, typically reaching 10cm tall and 25cm wide. Honey-scented flowers adorn this plant, and it will happily flower from June right through until September. An ideal low-maintenance plant, once it’s established, it won’t need much looking after - perhaps just a little water if it gets very dry.
Sow Alyssum flower seeds indoors or under cover in early spring, or direct in pots and borders from April to May. Plant Alyssum in full sun or part-shade, either as an edging plant or in mixed planting schemes. It’s particularly gorgeous planted along paths or in stone walls, where the honey fragrance can be enjoyed most. The pure white flowers of Carpet of Snow work particularly well against blue and purple flowers, or planted underneath Roses. For a wildlife magnet, why not try growing Alyssum Carpet of Snow alongside Lavender for a fragrant display of mauve and white.
