The coir chips (sized 3-10mm) improve drainage and aeration allowing for fast and robust root development.

Perfect for use in greenhouses, garden beds and patios, coir growbags are biodegradable, lightweight, and easy to handle. Their compact, unexpanded size makes storage simple, and each expanded growbag measures 100 x 15 x 12cm giving your plants more than enough room to grow.

FAQs

Coir growbags are a practical, eco-friendly choice for your garden. They help you spend less time watering by holding moisture longer, while still providing excellent drainage to keep plants healthy. The lightweight, compact design makes them easy to handle and store, and they expand to provide plenty of room for your plants. Coir growbags also support strong root growth, helping your plants thrive in greenhouses, raised beds, or on patios. Plus, they’re biodegradable and made from sustainable coconut husks, making them a better choice for both your garden and the environment.

Unlike compost, which can often become compacted over time, coir retains its airy structure, promoting better root development and preventing waterlogging. Coir also has a consistent, stable pH and EC, which helps avoid nutrient imbalances. While compost can break down and lose its structure, coir remains durable and provides a longer-lasting growing medium. Coir also offers a peat-free growing medium, unlike many other types of compost mixes.

Start by filling the bag with 3-4 litres of water to allow the coir to expand fully. Pierce the base of the bag for drainage. Remove a few inches of coir from the top of the mix, and place your tomato seeds on top of the remaining coir, before covering them with the removed mix.

As the tomato seedlings grow, continue adding coir, before eventually moving them into individual pots with fresh coir when they have a few true leaves. Keep the coir moist but not waterlogged as the plants grow.
