You can start sowing your dwarf Cosmos seeds indoors from March to April in trays of compost on a sunny windowsill or greenhouse. They’ll germinate in about 21 days, when you can then thin and plant out after frosts in late May, spacing 30cm apart in full sun. You can also direct-sow outdoors from late May for easy, bushy growth and colourful blooms all summer long.
Cosmos Dwarf Sensation Mix grows to a neat 60cm tall and 45cm wide, making it perfect for beginners filling pots, borders or small gardens. These compact plants stay upright without staking, producing masses of bright pink and white daisy flowers on feathery stems from summer to autumn. Just plant them in full sun, and they’ll thrive happily.
No, you don't need to soak dwarf Cosmos seeds before planting, as they germinate easily without any pre-treatment. Soaking for a few hours is optional if you want a slight speed boost, but most gardeners skip it and sow directly into the soil.
