Snowdrops Galanthus elwesii Flower Bulbs produce elegant nodding white flowers with characteristic green markings on the inner petals. Often larger and more robust in appearance than the common snowdrop, they bring welcome colour to the garden during the quietest part of the year.
Supplied as a pack of 10 bulbs, plants reach around 20cm (8in) and typically flower from January to March. They are ideal for naturalising beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, through woodland-style planting or towards the front of shaded borders, while their early flowers can provide useful forage for pollinators. Plant from September to November in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil in partial shade.
Bulb size: 5/6
Bulb sizes are measured by circumference in centimetres. A 5/6 bulb measures approximately 5-6cm around. Larger bulbs generally contain more stored energy, helping to support strong growth and an impressive flowering display.
