Product DescriptionOverview and what to expect

Rose Cardinal De Richelieu (Shrub) Plants bring dramatic colour and timeless elegance to the garden with intensely deep purple blooms that reflex into almost perfectly rounded flowers. This historic variety, first introduced in 1847, remains a favourite for its distinctive colouring, graceful habit and enduring garden appeal.

The fully double flowers are carried against attractive dark green foliage, creating a striking contrast throughout the flowering season. Nearly thornless stems make it an excellent choice for cutting, allowing its rich colour and subtle fragrance to be enjoyed indoors as well as outdoors.

Growing to approximately 120cm tall with a neat, upright habit, it fits beautifully into borders and mixed planting schemes, adding depth, colour and character to summer displays.

Shrub Rose: Shrub Roses are usually the largest of the bush roses. They are great for the back of borders or dividing spaces in the garden with a mounding spreading shape. Usually their flowers are large and can be single, semi or double flowering. Their flowers are produced all the way along their stems giving a fantastic display for a long period and can be highly fragrant too.

These roses are supplied as 2 year old bare root plants with 2 to 3 breaks.

Planting advice: Plant bare root roses outdoors from October to March. Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots comfortably, soak the roots in water before planting, and cover the graft union just below soil level. Water well after planting and mulch to retain moisture.
