FAQs

To use telescopic loppers, begin by extending the handles to the desired length using the push-button mechanism. Position the blade around the branch you wish to cut and use the ratchet mechanism for thicker branches by applying pressure in stages; each squeeze brings the blade closer to a complete cut. This technique requires less effort while delivering a clean finish. For best results, keep the blade sharp and free from debris.

A lopper is a general term for a long-handled pruning tool designed to cut branches, while a bypass lopper is a specific type of lopper. Bypass loppers have two sharp blades that glide past each other, like scissors. These are best used on live branches as they minimise damage to plant tissue. Other types of loppers, such as anvil loppers, use a single blade that cuts against a flat surface, making them better suited for deadwood or harder branches.

Bypass loppers are better for pruning live branches, as they produce cleaner cuts that help live plant tissue heal more quickly. Anvil loppers, on the other hand, are more effective for cutting dry or deadwood, as their single blade and flat anvil provide more crushing power. The Darlac Telescopic Ratchet Lopper has a ratchet mechanism which handles live and dead branches effectively.
